Tension is Building

Imagine walking into an exhibit and coming across a giant mechanical claw that opens very slowly, and positions itself like a defensive spider. What would you do? Well, I bet you would be afraid of what might happen next... that's for sure. Artist Archangelo Sassolino pushes the envelope with his mechanical sculptures, by manipulating the psychological tension between the viewer and the actual performance art work.

Sassolino is fascinated with the machines abilities to manipulate materials, with sheer power and control. He takes these elements and removes the human component of control, allowing these machines to function as creatures. This kind of tension plays on the human psyche, stirring the uncertainty in a gallery setting.
